1corinthians 12. "Worthless Gifts?" Sunday March 5, 2017, 11am

I can wrap a box and make it look so beautiful and fill it with many wonderful gifts to be used, but if no one opens and uses them, the gifts are worthless.

GOD has filled us with so many wonderful and amazing gifts. Until, we use these gifts, they are worthless.

Now we have another problem, as an example, we might consider just being a friend, a useless gift, when compared to the one who enthralls the church with beautiful music. Being a friend in their time of need, is indeed a very important and underestimated gift of importance. GOD says all gifts from a heart of love are needed, the same, and important.

If the gifts are not from a humble, loving heart, these truly are worthless. Little known fact is that the 12th chapter talks about gifts and the 13th talks about the spirit of using these gifts. All things should be done in love. "Love" is the filter that Jesus gave us for all things, love the Lord with all our heart soul mind, and our neighbor as our self, is recognizing that others are more important than I.

The purpose of gifts from GOD is? To glorify the Father (Rev. 4:11Re 4:11 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.), and to edify both the believers and the church (Eph. 4:12, 13 12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:

13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: )

Edify means to make all people and the church more Christ like. Which gifts does GOD emphasize? All gifts, are important.  The 14th chapter is about the number one gift of teaching the gospel.

In love Jesus says: Mt 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Amen, what a gift to strive for.

I know as a pastor how wonderful it is to have members who go about doing things, without looking for the praise of man, but the praise of the Lord. They do not have to be petted, nor recognized, so special care must be taken that their contribution is not overlooked.

Everyone has more than one gift. Do we recognize all of our gifts? 1-11
All gifts are important, they come from GOD, we should not feel proud. 12-17
Purpose of spiritual gifts. Glorify GOD, Edify believers and the church. 18-22.
Do not overlook the less popular gifts 23-31
GOD bless you with his grace and peace multiplied
