Psalm42. “Word not Emotions” Wednesday February 22, 2017 7pm
There comes a time in all our lives where we cannot help but feel low based on our emotions. David is having one of those days where the psalmist is convinced by his emotions that he is deserted, and alone with his problems.
The psalmist expresses his frustration with GOD for not making him feel better and he is longing to reconnect with GOD.
He expresses his true emotional thoughts of longing for GOD, and wonders why he must feel downhearted. It is only after he rethinks how GOD works with us, that he begins to put his faith in GOD and not his emotions. Our emotions are not a true test of GOD’s faithfulness.
The bible clearly states that GOD will never leave us nor forsake us. Hebrews 13:5 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
Isaiah 50:7 For the Lord GOD will help me; therefore shall I not be confounded: therefore have I set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be ashamed.
Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
Jeremiah 23:29 Is not my word like as a fire? saith the LORD; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces?
Psalm 119:97 O how love I thy law! it is my meditation all the day.
A time when our emotions believe GOD has deserted us. 1-3
I compare my low emotions to days of joy gone by. 4
Then I realize that my hope in GOD should never change. 5-6
Despite all the bad things happening, I will rest in GOD’s lovingkindness 7-8
Why do I let these things bother me, when GOD is my rock. 9-11
Let me be led by thy light and truth. 43:1-3
Led by thy light and truth, I will praise thee from great joy. 43:4-5
GOD bless you with his grace and peace multiplied.
