1 Corinthians 5,6. "Judging Church Members" Sunday February 12, 11am 2017
Jesus says we will be judged on whether we judge rightly or not and how we handle the situation. We might get praise for judging rightly and handling it with compassion and gentleness, or we might get GOD's wrath when we judge unfairly or haughtily.
Everyone is to be judged by one standard, which is by the word of GOD. We must use compassion and gentleness to restore a person living in direct rebellion to GOD's holy word, prayerfully to save them from their evil desires. Jesus says we will be judged on how we judge.
We are called to try to save people from themselves.
2 Tim 2 24And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, 25In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; 26And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.
We are not called to judge unbelievers, we are called to witness to non-believers.
 Ezekiel 33:8
8When I say unto the wicked, O wicked man, thou shalt surely die; if thou dost not speak to warn the wicked from his way, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand. 9Nevertheless, if thou warn the wicked of his way to turn from it; if he do not turn from his way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul.
We must confront church members living in direct rebellion against the word of GOD, who are not willing to give up their sinful ways. This is different from those who sin and when confronted, confess and recognize their sins. If they do not give up their evil ways, we are to put them out of the church and shun them, which means they are not to be associated with. If they come back to the church and confess they have been living wrong, quit their evil ways, then the church should take them back in.
Now church discipline should be on this wise, the rebellious member should be approached by one, then if that does not work, two should approach the member, if that does not work, it should be brought before the whole church.
We all have evil desires that we must keep under control. In today's world, just as it was at the church of Corinth, the number one sin is fornication; sex outside of marriage between a man and a woman. Sex has become the false god of America. Because there are strong desires involved, we want to ignore the word of GOD and make it okay. It does not mean we cannot be forgiven, GOD is willing to forgive anything to all those who ask; as long as we have his son Jesus as our savior. It does not mean that all the evil desires will keep us out of heaven, but there will be consequences or repercussions in today's world. The only thing to keep us out of heaven is to reject his son Jesus.
I assure you, we are not prejudiced, judgmental, or picking on anyone, we must remember all people have one standard to live by; one standard only, what the Bible says.
