Colossians 3.  "Seek Things Above" Sunday November 6. 2016, 11am

Paul constantly reminds us that we are complete in Jesus. Christians need to pray for the power from the Holy Spirit to enable us to use GOD’s word for guidance in life and not earthly things. Unfortunately, many Christians consult other mediums for direction in life. It seems harmless to a lot of Christians who consult horoscopes, fortune cookies, Ouija boards, palm readers. This seems like a fun and harmless thing to do, but, it is an insult to GOD, who wants to take care of us.

The troubles of this world are the product of mankind's use of his free will and not following the will of GOD.

If we were able to look into heaven, we would not find the following evil practices: immorality, impurity, passion, evil desires and greed. These sins do not build up rewards in heaven.  What is more frightening, is that upon these sins, the wrath of GOD is coming and they will be destroyed.  Others not found in heaven are: anger, wrath, malice, slander and abusive speech, which includes lies. We will not find these sins in heaven, our new home, so why practice them.

Remember we need to pray for the Holy Spirit's anointing power to enable us to more often avoid a lot of the sinful practices that we fall into now. So, let us pray for powerful anointing, from the Holy Spirit, to practice the following: compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, patience, bearing with one another, forgiveness. Against which there is no law.

The Bible assures us as we follow GOD’s will it is good for us. Why do things that are seemingly fun for a moment, but are really bad for us? Would we intentionally strive for things that are bad for us?

A. Set our affections on things in heaven 1-4

B. Pray for anointing power from the Holy Spirit to reduce our worldly evil. 5-9

C. Pray for anointing power from the Holy Spirit to do all in the name of the Lord Jesus. 10-24

D. Submitting to the word of GOD as it is fit in the Lord.18-25

GOD bless you with his grace and peace
