Ephesians5. “Will We Ever Learn?” Sunday October 9, 2016 11am

A  song from  days gone by, asks the question, When will we ever learn?  Are we going to follow GOD’s word, the Bible or are we making up our own Bible. I see sadly, many misguided Christians who say I believe in a woman’s right to kill her baby. We call it prochoice, or abortion that  sounds so much better than what it is, murder, which is what GOD calls it. Then there are those who think sex outside of a married man and woman is okay, but GOD says it is sinful. Now you can be forgiven in both of these instances, but please as a Christian, do not show your ignorance of GOD’s word; know that GOD’s word says that both actions are sinful and do not tell anyone that it is okay. Do not be fooled, GOD will not be mocked. It does not matter what I think, but what the scripture says.

It has been said that a picture is worth a thousand words. GOD uses three pictures in Ephesians 5 to show us how to live. The first picture is of little children holding on to their parents hands in precarious situations. We ask small  children to hold our hand in parking lots, crossing the streets, etc. Now as they get a little older, they make a point to not hold our hands just to show they do not need us anymore. That is pretty much how we do things with GOD when we are  walking through a tough situation, we call on GOD to lead us. The next time we know what to expect and we go it alone. However, GOD is saying to us, always, be like little children and let me hold your hand through life.

The second picture is of walking in love as Jesus did. When they nailed him to the cross, Jesus said, “father, forgive them for they know not what they do”. When people are hateful to us let us have that same compassion for them and say father forgive them for they know not what they do. Then we will have turned away our wrath, knowing that they do not know what they are doing to themselves.

The third picture is one of submission. When Jesus submitted to his death on the cross, what did he get out of it? He suffered a terrible death, yet he submitted to GOD’s word and will. Did Jesus say I am just as good as anyone? He did not look upon himself to have things his way, he clearly followed the word of GOD as should we.

A. Walk as loving, obedient little children 1-2.
B. Our speaking should be in psalms, praise, and giving of thanks. 3-13.
C. Make the most of our time, knowing that all will be exposed one day. 13-17
D. Happy hour, should be spent in praising the Lord. 18-21
E. Wives submit to your husbands. 22-24
F. Husbands love your wives as Christ loved the church. 25-33
GOD bless everyone with his grace and peace
